The Tamang Heritage Trail
is the newest trekking route in the Nepal Himalaya.
We have been researching this region since 2004 and
it is by far our ‘favourite little spot for a
walk’. Some Nepali NGO’s have worked hard
with local villagers to improve the trails and the result
is an easy-going route through pristine mountain scenery.
This will become one of the most popular short trekking
routes in the years to come as it offers a great general
overview to the Himalaya and its cultures, and is very
easy to access from Kathmandu.
One of the highlights of this trek
is the opportunity to do ‘home stays’ in
the village of Briddim. This involves staying in a traditional
Tamang house for a couple of nights. There are also
fantastic views of Tibetan, Langtang and Ganesh Himal
ranges. Without a doubt this is a gem of a trek and
excellent acclimatization before heading to Mustang. |
